ROYAL BELUM INTERNATIONAL HORNBILL EXPEDITION 2018

It's that time of year again. ECOMY's signature event - Royal Belum International Hornbill The Royal Belum International Hornbill Expedition 2018 will be organised again by ECOMY.

This year we will be joined and supported by friends namely Belum Forest Friends (BFF), Belum Rainforest Resort, EMKAY and Perak State Park Corporation.

We are hosting 5 countries this year and will also be training local guides, 3-5th September 2018.This is an amazing opportunity to survey the world’s oldest rainforest (estimated to be over 130 million years old) for its amazing hornbill population.

The Royal Belum State Park is home to all 10 species of Malaysian hornbills and dubbed the ‘Hornbill Capital of the World’ by the Ecotourism & Conservation Society Malaysia (ECOMY).

It is also designated an Important Bird Area (MY07) by BirdLife International. This fun 2-day event is aimed at creating awareness and to highlight, through the eyes of international participation, the amazing density and variety of our beautiful hornbills in the Belum-Temengor area and Malaysia in general.

We hope to inspire local participation and worldwide intrigue to put and enhance Malaysia on the global ecotourism & birding map!
