When it comes to tourism particularly birding, going digital is no exception.
There are around 1.9 billion websites currently on the Web. When it comes to tourism particularly birding, going digital is no exception.
Yesterday, Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Director General Zulkifly Md Said just launched the first-ever website solely dedicated to birding (birdsmalaysia.my) at Kuching Waterfront in conjunction with 10th Asian Bird Fair.
This website serves as a tool for local service provides to promote more than 25 attractive birding packages, among which are ‘Birding in Niah & Ba’kelalan’ and ‘Birding in Mulu National Park’. It’s also the ideal platform for bird enthusiasts to share their knowledge, experiences and photos about different Malaysian bird species.
Birding is a booming niche market in Malaysia’s ecotourism whereby 55 locations are gazetted as Important Bird Area (IBA) including Sarawak. It is expected that 5,663 birdwatchers will visit Malaysia by year-end, with revenue that can reach up to RM36.8 million. Just in time for Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, this website will indirectly boost and welcome tourists arrival.
This website has been in the works since March this year by Ecotourism & Conservation Society Malaysia - ECOMY with the cooperation of Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia.
