THE ROYAL BELUM INTERNATIONAL HORNBILL EXPEDITION 2021, 20 - 22 OCT 2021

Interested to join an Expedition into a rainforest older than the Amazon & Congo basin? A park that is home to all 10 species of hornbills found in Malaysia?

For 3 days & 2 nights, we will live on board a houseboat and ‘hunt’ as many, if not all of these amazing hornbills in the Royal Belum State Park in Perak. This annual event is organised by ECOMY (Ecotourism & Conservation Society Malaysia) and supported by the Perak State Park Corporation & Royal Belum State Park.

WHO CAN JOIN?

This event is open to fully vaccinated & reasonably fit adults. Priority will be given to those who reside in Perak or are traveling from Phase 4 states or with official approvals. Those who want to join must agree to take a PCR/PCR equivalent/self-test before and after the event.

Participants with keen interest to learn about hornbills and the rainforest whether with or without birdwatching experience are welcome to apply.

WHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?

Participants will learn from experienced local guides and from Naturalist, Andrew Sebastian, who will provide training for newbies through a workshop on hornbill identification, rainforest ecology and about other unique wildlife in the park, during this event. We will also have a sharing session with birdwatchers from across the world about experiences at Royal Belum.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

RM750 full board for 3D2N, ex. Pulau Banding. This includes all main meals (12 meals), quad-sharing room (SOP compliant), boat transfers, Expedition Certificate, Expedition T-shirt.

HOW TO JOIN?

Participation will be by invitation only & limited to between 15-20 pax (subject to SOPs & updated requirements). To apply, please email us and tell us, in not more than 40 words, why you would like to join this Expedition.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Applicants must also provide us with some personal details, including age, home address, social media link/s, a screenshot of your vaccination certificate and pre-event PCR result. Applicants must have a pair of binoculars. Participants must also have an active social media presence i.e., either on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok and if successful, must support this event by promoting their experiences on these mediums.
